Change only occurs when we first recognize the problems.   Diversity, equity, and inclusion can and should include 'many' even all. Yet grant applicants really have  are quite limited in the resource they can build into an application to improve diversity representation in their sample. We must encourage applicants to build in specific ideas and resources to address diversity

1. What obstacles impede advancing health disparities research for NICHD populations?

Sometime the barriers that need to be addressed go outside a typical research design and or budget.

2.What innovative or novel approaches to research could be leveraged to mitigate health disparities in NICHD populations?

Require investigators to build resources to mitigate barriers to recruitment of diverse populations.  Teach reviewers to need for this and how it adds to the validity of the science
